Water Safety with the RNLI

28th Apr 2023

The RNLI visited our school today to teach the children about keeping safe in the water. They found out about all the different flags they use to show designated swimming or surfing areas and also if they see the red flag they must not swim as it is too dangerous. Some children enjoyed dressing up in the lifeguard clothes and identified all the important equipment they use. The children all practised what to do if they got into trouble in the water. They pretended to float on their backs in a starfish shape, while making small circles with their hands and keeping their mouth and nose above the water. Only then do they raise their hand to ask for help. Another important skill they found out about was what do if they get caught in a riptide. Thank you to Luke and Michael who provided our whole school with such vital life saving information.
