The Gingerbread Man
Primary One have had loads of fun this week finding out about the story of 'The Gingerbread Man.' They created some lovely artwork using collage, completed storyboards using beautiful handwriting and had great fun retelling the story using the puppets.
The best part of the week was making their Gingerbread Men to take home. They were very good at measuring out the ingredients, smelling the different spices and 'squishing' all the ingredients together to make a dough. They all got a chance to roll out the dough and cut out a selection of characters from the gingerbread family. When they left them over to the kitchen they made sure that Teresa closed the oven door tight so none of them could escape.
The next day they worked with a partner to decorate a big gingerbread man or woman and also two small ones of their own. There were some masterpieces!
However when we went out to play, we didn't close the classroom door tight and one managed to escape. There was great excitement working out what happened to the escapee and how we would go about finding him. Thankfully we managed to follow the puppets' clues and got to him just before the fox ate him.
