Seasonal Creations from Primary One and Two
We have been looking at how nature changes throughout the seasons. This past week we focused on how trees change over the year. The children decided they would like to create their own trees or seasonal pictures. They brainstormed all the different things they might need to make their creations amazing. We then went on a scavenger hunt around our school grounds to find things to make outdoor art in play. They found an amazing collection of pine cones, moss, twigs and leaves. The next day they worked in groups, pairs or individually to create beautiful scenes from nature. Back in class we decided to ask their parents to help us stock up some of the other recycling materials to help us all make an individual seasonal tree. The response was fantastic and I would like to thank everyone again for their generosity. The children arrived into school after their long weekend to an amazing array of boxes, collage, wrapping paper etc. They all very quickly settled into their own work of art and I was delighted to witness fantastic concentration, focus and a wonderful calm atmosphere in our classroom throughout. They all produced a fantastic unique tree and it was very clear with many of them which season they chose to focus on, or if they chose to represent a variety of seasons. Well done to everyone.
