Nature art in the woods - Forest schools in P1 and P2
For the last month of our school year our topic is changing to “All Around Us.” As an introduction to it, the Primary One and Two children took their Forest School’s activities to the little wooded area beside the beach. In class we looked at examples of nature art by the sculptor Andy Goldsworthy. This inspired the children to create their own nature art using similar ideas and techniques. Some chose to create their artwork on the ground while others decided to use the trees as a canvas and added their treasures to them. They were free to choose if they wanted to work individually, in pairs or in groups and I was very impressed by the variety of masterpieces they created. The children were all fantastic at following the rules of respecting nature and each other. They all kept within their boundary flags and had a fantastic morning exploring. Hopefully we will have the chance to complete lots more fun outdoor activities over the next few weeks.
