Global Start a Heart Day Training

24th Oct 2018

This year the Primary Seven children completed their Heartstart training at the same time as the Global Start a Heart campaign was taking place. Over the past six years at primary school, they have been learning lots of emergency life saving skills, including what to do if a person is choking, has had an accident and has serious bleeding or is showing signs of having a heart attack. They can now follow all the DRSABC rules of Heartstart (Check for Dangers, Response, Shout for help, Check Airways are clear and open and check for normal Breathing) to identify what help a person may need in an emergency. They would the call an ambulance and start CPR if they are unconscious and not breathing normally.

All the children demonstrated a very mature approach to this training and were able to rotate and demonstrate 30 chest compressions and 2 effective rescue breaths with the Little Annes in response to various scenarios.
