Maths Fun in Primary One
Primary One have been very busy over the past week finding out about colour and repeating patterns. We found the primary colours around our school, used the ipads to take photographs and made collages for each colour. We created repeating hand print patterns using red, blue and yellow. Throughout maths and play we have been using a variety of material to create repeating patterns, including puppies, bears, pegs, fingerprints and animals. As we were doing so well with our sorting and pattern work, we then moved onto data handling. We all brought in our favourite toys to class as part of our 'Favourite Things' topic. We had great fun playing with each others toys and telling all our friends all about them. We then painted them and used photograhs of them to practise our data handling skills. We sorted them into two sets using different criteria and then created a pictogram of all the toys to find out which one was the most popular in our class.
