Busy start for our P1 and P2 class
This week we welcomed our 12 new Primary One children to our school. They have had great fun getting to know the Primary Two children in their classroom and catching up with their friends from Nursery. Primary Two have enjoyed taking on the responsible role of helpers for the younger children and have been very good at including them in their games. They have been painting self portraits, lacing and building jigsaws on the whiteboard and tabletop. As part of our topic ‘people who help us’, the children were introduced to their role play vet surgery. There are lots of budding vets, nurses and paramedics who were brilliant at rushing sick animals to the surgery by ambulance, bandaging broken legs and checking out heart beats. I really enjoyed listening to the conversations between budding friendships as they discussed everything from tractors to Irish dancing. We were lucky to enjoy some nice weather to play outside with the hoops, balls and pirate ship. This year we are introducing Numicion to our Maths curriculum and they have had lots of fun exploring the shapes. A great start to the year.
