As part of their Eco Schools project and in line with their topics this term, Primary 4, 5 and 6 pupils carried out a litter pick at Waterfoot beach with Miss McQuillan and Mrs Higgins. Despite the light rain, they worked together in groups across the classes and managed to remove 13 bags of rubbish which included a large amount of plastic items and cans as well as much larger items including inflatables and clothing. The children were amazed by how much litter there was on the beach and felt a real sense of achievement from their morning's work! This was a great learning experience for them and really reinforced how we can all have an impact on our local environment. Many thanks to their teachers and classroom assistants and to Causeway Coast & Glens for lending us litterpickers and recyclable bags.
